Questioning Values in the Delivery of Dance Practices at the University of East London.

This session focuses on our collaborative teaching experiences on the dance degree course at the University of East London, which was established in 2007 to challenge the Western dance canon in Higher Education dance training. Based on our recent book chapter publication in Ethical Agility in Dance: Rethinking Technique in British Contemporary Dance (2023), we will focus on how our students confront a range of ethical challenges and contradictions in preparation for the realities of the dance industry, through critical thinking and embodied enquiry.
