Improving the student experience through global engagement

Tonny Raymond Kirabira

University of East London

This initiative is structured as a student fellowship for Law students on Master’s program.
The fellowship links directly to the learning on 2 Modules- LA7040 2526 Mental Wealth - International Law: Problems & Process, and International Criminal Law, both taught by Dr. Kirabira. A majority of the students enrolled on the program are international students, that tend to have limited practical exposure and employability opportunities.
External partners working on important aspects of international law have been identified and host our students for 1-3 months. 2 to 5 students are selected, based on academic merit and career motivations. The fellowship links directly with 2 of UEL’s Future Professional: Careers and Enterprise Strategic priorities-Reimagined Career Readiness and Dynamic Partnerships. Immediate outcomes include students gaining hands-on experience in international law projects, developing legal research, drafting, and professional communication skills, and receiving direct mentorship from leading international lawyers. Long-term outcomes include enhanced employability, improved confidence in legal practice, and strengthened global career readiness.
